Gauge: 4 1/2s X 6r = 1" Finished Size: 12" wide x 10" long Materials: 2 Skeins of Noro Kujako in #18 1 hank of Tahki Cotton Classic in Yellow 1 pair of 4 1/2" Bamboo "D" shaped purse handles US 8 Straight needles H-8 crochet hook embroidery needle Directions: panel (make 2) CO 50st Work in St st for 6" Working in Garter Stitch, *K2tog, k across to last two st, SSK* repeat from * for 1" Continue working in Garter St, *K3tog, k across to last 3 st, SSSK* Repeat from * until peice measures 4" across Working St st for 2" BO all stitches The Sun: Ch 3, to form ring slip st in first chain ch 2, *sc 2 in next ch, 1 sc in next ch* rep from * to last ch, join with sl st ch 2, *sc 2 in next st, 1 sc in next st* rep from * to last ch, join with sl st ch 2 *sc 2 in next st, 2 sc in next st* rep from * to last ch, join with sl st ch 2 *sc 2 in next st, 2 sc in next st* rep from * to last ch, join with sl st finish off |
To make rays: *join yarn anywhere, sc 4 in next 4 st ch 2, turn, decrease next two st, sc in last sts ch 2, turn, decrease next two st, sc in last st ch 2, turn, decrease last two sts finish off* rep from * around until you have 7 rays join yarn at any point and sl st around to leave a clean edge border. finish off and weave in ends Finishing: wrap 2" tab over the Bamboo Handle and sew across the the WS of the St st section Repeat on the second panel Sew sun on the front of either panel sew up seams and you are done! Optional Embellishments: You could always turn out your embroidery skills and embroider the sun motif on the front!
