"Their First Blanket"

Materials
Bernat Cotton Tots Yarn in colors of your choice
in these directions the colors are as follows
Color A-Yellow
Color B-White
Color C-Blue
G hook.
Directions:
The pattern is a granny square blanket. There are six varieties that form the pattern seen here. You may choose to use one variation for the whole blanket, or maybe two or three.
I will give directions for all six variations.
Variation 1- Color C, A, C, B
With Color C
Ch 3, yo, insert hook in first Ch, DC in that ch 2 times to form a cluster of three.
*ch 2, 3 DC in the same ch as last cluster*
repeat from * 2 more times
Ch 2
slip stitch in top of first dc
you should have 4 dc clusters
Finish Off
With Color A
Join with slip stitch in any corner ch2 space.
Ch 3(counts as 1st DC) DC 2 times in same ch 2 space, ch 1
3 DC in next ch 2 space, ch 2 to turn corner
*3 DC in same ch 2 space, ch 1 , 3 DC in next ch 2 space, ch 2*
repeat around...
sl st in first DC to end round (8 clusters)
Finish off
With Color C
Join with slip stitch in any corner ch2 space.
Ch 3(counts as 1st DC) DC 2 times in same ch 2 space, ch 1, repeat across to corner
3 DC in next ch 2 space, ch 2 to turn corner
*3 DC in same ch 2 space, ch 1 , 3 DC in next ch 2 space, ch 2*
repeat around...
sl st in first DC to end round (16 clusters)
Finish off
With Color B
join with SC in any corner ch 2 space.
*SC in every DC around to corner, ch 2 to turn corner*
repeat from * on each side.

Variation 2- Color A, C, A, B
With Color A

Assembly
all the assembly was done using Slip Stitch in back loops only
you may use whip stitch if you so prefer.
I assembled the squares in panels of six in this order
top row: Variations 6, 4, 1
bottom row: Variations 3, 2, 5
Then I put four 6 square panels together to make a 24 square panel 8 squares wide and 3 squares high.
Then I put the three 24 square panels together to form a blanket that was 9 squares high and 8 squares wide.
72 total squares.
